In this episode of A Soul’s Quest Podcast, Omar and I will discuss how Emotional Intelligence is defined, how developing it has had an impact on our lives, and why we believe it is an essential skill to develop in our Soul’s Quest.
Emotional intelligence is a skill that enables you to recognize, understand, and manage your emotions, as well as recognize, understand, and influence the emotions of others. Emotional intelligence is also known as “emotional quotient” (EQ).
Emotional intelligence affects every aspect of our lives. It influences how well we do in school and at work, how happy we are in our relationships, and even how healthy we are.
Developing emotional intelligence is a vital part of becoming a fully functioning adult. You can learn it just like any other skill — through experience, training, reflection (thinking about things in your life), and practice.
It’s important to keep in mind that emotional intelligence doesn’t necessarily come naturally to everyone. Some people have more natural ability than others because of genetics or early childhood experiences. But it’s something that you can improve with time and effort.
We at A Soul’s Quest believe that by reflecting on our life’s experiences and that of others, we could better understand the emotions that lead to our decisions, take better inventory of them, and gain some valuable insights as to how we should proceed in our quest. Life presents us with a wide array of situations that will test our resolve and sense of meaning.
Nevertheless, only through proper deduction and understanding of the external and internal aspects of ourselves can we evolve as individuals. Emotions are the most primordial aspects of our reality, becoming more intelligent about them will allow us the power to succeed in our quest.

ASQ PODCAST S2 E39 | Dr. Brenda Rante ``Dancing Queen” Self Identity
Monday Apr 25, 2022
Monday Apr 25, 2022
In this episode of A Soul’s Quest podcast, Dr. Brenda Rante shares her experiences on her quest. Born in New York City to a Filipino father and a Jamaican mother, Brenda dealt with the reality of self-identity and where she fits in in a multicultural society. Fortunately, Brena found solace in dancing.
The greatest journey we can take is not to a physical destination, but to the depths of our own souls. We've all heard clichés like "find yourself" and "know thyself," and while these phrases have been so overused they may seem meaningless, they are in fact the most important journeys we can ever make.
When you know yourself, and you love yourself, you become more powerful than you could ever imagine. But that doesn't mean it's easy—finding your true self is an arduous process filled with pain, joy, trial, error, and ultimately growth. If you reflect on your soul's quest, you could realize the beauty that unfolds as we follow our trajectory through this thing called life.
First, you have to start by asking yourself some tough questions. Who am I? What do I want? Why do I want it? What does it mean to be happy? What does it mean to be good? How can I be better than I was yesterday? And how can I make the world a better place for myself and those around me?
When you ask these questions honestly—and answer them honestly—you will find that your life changes in ways you couldn't have imagined before. Your relationships will deepen; your work will become more fulfilling; your days will become brighter, even if not easier. When you know who you are and what matters to you most
Join us on a shared experience with Brenda as she takes us through the ebbs and flows of her quest. The many lessons learned, the many challenges overcome, and her determination to follow through on her goals.

Monday Apr 11, 2022
You are currently listening to HOW TO STAY BALANCED WHEN COMPARING YOURSELF TO OTHERS | ASQ PODCAST S2 E37 The dangers of basing our lives solely on our comparisons to others are reflected in the quote from this video. It's natural to compare yourself to others. We all compare ourselves to others in order to feel better about ourselves during difficult times. We measure ourselves against others to see who is better and who is worse. To define ourselves, we compare ourselves to others. Then we assess where we need to improve by comparing ourselves to ourselves. Comparisons, on the other hand, are not always negative. Comparison is beneficial since it allows us to identify which elements of our performance need to be improved. However, this must be done in a balanced way. You know the old adage, “comparison is the thief of joy.” There are times in life when we can benefit from comparing ourselves to others…and then there are times when a comparison is at best a waste of time and energy, and at worst something that holds us back. We're all on this life quest, and it can be challenging at times. But we're here to provide guidance by sharing stories, experiences, and personal connections in various topics; including the self, improvement, edu
